Suspense: What Will the New School Year Bring?

September 1, 2013 - A new school year is about to begin and with it this new blog. I've blogged before as a school board member and as a preschool director and the time is definitely overdue for a reflection on my current job.

Hass' Way is the name of the out-of-school suspension program at Peekskill High School. Students attend who are for some reason not able to stay in the middle school or high school - usually they have gotten into a fight, or they may have hit a teacher, or they may have brought a weapon to school or issued a bomb threat. Or, they may be awaiting testing or placement in an outside school. Anyway, these are my students and they have important hopes and dreams and I hope to help them fulfill those dreams and not lose sight of them.

And besides Hass' Way, I will also be teaching an online anthropology course, a course in Twilight Academy, and be a co-advisor for the student newspaper. it will be a busy year.
